Tony passed away peacefully at Jewish Hospital in Kenwood after fighting several health issues and his heart simply could take no more.
He was the deeply loved husband of Diane Hooks (nee Centers). They were married on August 26, 2017 and had been one another’s constant love and soul mate for 27 years.
Tony was born in Mt. Adams to Rebecca J. Hooks (nee Seng) and Funston Hooks on April 24, 1941. He was the cherished brother of Theresa Rogers, Phyllis Hollandsworth and Ronald Hooks who all preceded him in death.
He was the loving and devoted father of Traci (Jeff) Darnell, Melissa (Cliff) Bishop and Tony (Maria) Hooks.
He was the loving “Papa” of Patrick, Cullen, Aidan, Michael, Lily and Brody. Tony was tough, sweet, funny and had the kindest heart.
He and Diane have 6 precious kitties, all of whom he adored: Luna, Savannah, Lily, Josie, Rosie and Cinnamon. They brought a smile to his face and warmth and happiness to his heart.
He worked for the Kroger Company, 7 Up, Time DC and and was so proud to have been the Vice President of The Teamsters Local 100. He coached softball for St. Elizabeth Church and many years for the Sorrentos softball team winning several championships. He was very proud of his Irish-German heritage.
Tony never knew a stranger and found more joy in giving than receiving. He loved Rock and Roll, especially Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and the soul music of Motown, reading his daily Cincinnati Enquirer, meeting with his fellow Purcell Class of 1959 classmates every month and spoiling and loving his sweet kitties.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 4, from 6-8PM at Naegele Kleb & Ihlendorf Funeral Home, 3900 Montgomery Rd., Norwood 45212. His funeral mass will be held Wednesday, August 5 at 10AM at Holy Trinity Church, Montgomery Rd. & Drex Ave., Norwood. Memorials may be made to: St. Vincent de Paul Charitable Pharmacy and The Scratching Post non-profit cat shelter...both in Cincinnati.
