Daniel J. Romanello, Sr.

ROMANELLO. Daniel J. Sr. Beloved husband of Mary Romanello (nee Trentman). Devoted father of Barbara (the late James) Romanello-Wichtman, Daniel J. Jr. (Debbie), Carmela (James) Boesch, Robbie (Will) Atkinson, Michael (Debbie), Mary L. (Enid), Thomas (Miho), Anthony (Diane), Rev.James, Jackie (Dave) Harris, Paul (Linda), Steve, and the late Sandy Johnson and Theresa Backscheider. Also survived by 23 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren & sons-in-law Steve Johnson and Bill Backscheider. Dear brother of the late Sam and Alex Romanello & Rose Emmerich.  Passed away on June 18, 2018. Residence formerly of Norwood. Age 95. Dan Romanello Sr was the oldest of 4 children.  He buried his 2 brothers and his sister over the years.  He loved his wife and the 14 children they had together and painfully had to stand over 2 of his daughters and a son-in-law as their caskets were lowered into their graves.  He had a love and a passion for the game of baseball which he played, coached and umpired for 35 years. He taught umpiring and assigned umpires for the Queen City Umpires Association.  He is in the Ohio Softball Associations Hall of Fame.  He served his community in the Knight of Columbus and also a member of the Norwood Kiwanis.  He loved working with the youth of the community and was very involved with the Kiwanis sponsored Key Clubs in the high schools and the Circle K at the colleges.  Circle K has an award presented on an annual basis named after him.  He became the Kiwanis Ohio District Governor where he also distinguished himself serving a larger community. He also served the Norwood community by serving as a city councilman for 2 terms.  He was active member in Holy Trinity Church.
