Dave L. Arrington, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, departed this world on August 6, 2025, peacefully in Kenwood, Ohio, surrounded by the loving embrace of his family. Born on March 24, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he lived a life rich in love and service, leaving behind a legacy that resonates deeply within the hearts of those who knew him.
Dave was a man of unwavering kindness and generosity, known for his warmth and the infinite lengths he would go to help others. He never spoke a harsh word about anyone and embodied the spirit of compassion, serving as a guiding light for his family and friends. His passion for nurturing the spirit of teamwork was evident in the countless hours he dedicated to coaching his children in various sports, instilling in them the values of discipline, perseverance, and camaraderie.
A proud veteran, Dave served his country in the United States Air Force, an experience that shaped not only his character but also his deep appreciation for service and commitment. His interests were as vibrant as his personality; he was an enthusiastic supporter of the Reds baseball team and a staunch fan of Ohio State sports. In quieter moments, he found solace on the golf course, a testament to his love for the outdoors and a good game. As an animal lover, he had a special place in his heart for all creatures, valuing the companionship they brought into his life. His devotion to his faith and commitment to his church played an integral role, adding another layer of richness to his existence.
Dave leaves behind his beloved wife, Cheryl W. Arrington (nee Hawkins) of 41 years, whose partnership illuminated their journey together. He is also survived by his children: Mike, Andy, Tim, Chris (Angie) Arrington, Stephanie (Ed) Bowman, Maggie (Doug) Dewey and Alex Arrington, who carry forward his legacy with pride. His grandchildren “Papa” to a few—Victor, Kasey, Taylor, Jacinda, Jayden, Kallista, Karah, Jordain, Isabel, and Amelia—were the apples of his eye, each one dearly cherished and lovingly encouraged by their grandfather.
In mourning his passing, survivors also reflect on the love and joy he brought to their lives. He is remembered fondly by his sisters-in-law, Jacquelyn Hawkins and Tina Arrington. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Martha Arrington, and his brother, Ron Arrington, who welcomed him into the arms of eternity.
A memorial gathering will be held at Naegele Kleb Ihlendorf Funeral Home, 3900 Montgomery Rd, Norwood, Ohio, on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 1PM to 3PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 3PM.
