John Peter. Born, Norwood, Ohio, 1917. Died Alameda, California, 2011, age 94. Lived the first 75 years of his life in the vicinity of Norwood, Ohio, and the last 19 years in Alameda, California. Married to his beloved Mary Elizabeth (nee Tuckwell, died 1991) for 45 years, residing in Norwood. Raised four children, all college graduates. As an adolescent, helped support his birth family during the Great Depression, which hit on his 12th birthday. World War II Veteran; served almost five years in the United States Army, including Europe during World War II. Devoted father of Elizabeth Zimmerman Tuckwell, Alameda, California, Janet (Ed) Becker, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Caroline (Anthony) Lukaszewski, New York, New York, Chris Zimmerman, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; dear grandfather of Nathan (Joy) Becker, Monrovia, California, Drew Becker, Chicago, Illinois, Lorian (David) Gibson, Madison, Wisconsin, and Catherine Lukaszewski, New York, New York; loving great-grandfather of Jadon, Grace, and Natalie Becker, Monrovia, California. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 4, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Naegele, Kleb & Ihlendorf Funeral Home, 3900 Montgomery Rd, Norwood, Ohio 45212, with a blessing service and military honors to follow at the funeral home.
