Marilyn Rae (Tschaen) Rivir

Cincinnati, OH – Marilyn Rae (Tschaen) Rivir, of Dayton Ohio, passed away June 24, 2018 at the age of 80 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

She was born in Richmond on March 8, 1938 to Ralph and Josephine Tschaen. Marilyn graduated from Richmond Senior High School and subsequently earned her RN degree in nursing from Methodist Hospital, a career she loved. Her compassion, calm under pressure, and kindness lessened countless peoples’ suffering throughout the decades. She was the neighborhood nurse that all mothers would consult with about injuries, she was our devoted mom who took such good care of us when we were sick or injured, and most of all, she was the person who would help anyone in need.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister Betty Jo Mendoza (Tschaen). Survivors include children:  Michael Rivir (Rita), Valerie Rivir Saurine (Matt), Matthew Rivir (Carol); beloved grandchildren: Marita Rivir, Chloe Rivir, Matthew Kyler Saurine, Zachary Saurine;  her brothers Kyle

(Kathleen) Tschaen of Northbrook Illinois and Kevin (Dawn) Tschaen of Fremont California.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of Evergreen Retirement Home and the incredible Hospice Team for their loving care throughout her stay.

The family, in honoring Marilyn's wishes, will hold a small graveside service at Earlham Cemetery, Richmond Indiana on Sunday, August 5, 2018. Condolences may be sent to the family via Naegele, Kleb & Ihlendorf Funeral Home, Cincinnati Ohio.

Please honor Marilyn's memory by considering a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or better yet, join one of the Walk to End Alzheimers Events in your area.

"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring; all of which have the potential to turn a life around."

—Leo Buscaglia
