Mildred Kay Collins (née Hosterman), affectionately known to all as "Sweet Kay," passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 30, 2025, at the age of 83.
Kay was the beloved wife of the late Tom Sowder and the late Jerry Collins. She was the devoted mother of Shellie Sowder and loving stepmother to David Collins (Joe Nino Rivas).
She is survived by her cherished siblings, Lynn Taber, Rick Hosterman (Kathee Hosterman), and Randy Hosterman. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Evelyn Wesley and Johnny Hosterman. Kay also leaves behind her dear nieces—Kim Sweet, Kendra Wesley, and Alex Hoosier—along with a large extended family and countless dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Kay was truly a giving and gentle soul who cared deeply for everyone in her life. A talented hairstylist, she entered the profession right after high school and spent most of her life bringing out the beauty in others and making them feel genuinely cared for. She will be warmly remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit, and love for people, and famous "gift of gab." Kay touched countless lives, and her warmth and laughter will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 7th, at Naegele, Kleb & Ihlendorf Funeral Home on Montgomery Road in Norwood. Family and friends are invited to gather from 3:00 PM until the time of service at 4:00 PM
