Thomas F. Williams, fondly known as Tom, was born on January 1, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and departed this world peacefully on August 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of his devoted wife, Mary Ann Willams (nee DeNoma) who he was married to for 61 years. Tom leaves behind a legacy of selfless dedication to his community and a heart full of cherished memories shared with those he adored.
Tom served the City of Norwood diligently as a police officer for 34 years, ultimately rising through the ranks to become a Captain for 20 years. His career was marked by courage and sacrifice. However, it was not just in his role as a police officer that Tom made an impact; he committed himself to serve the people of Norwood as their Mayor from 2004 to 2020, dedicating over 50 years of his life to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of his community. His unwavering commitment was a testament to his character, inspiring countless individuals throughout his remarkable life. Tom also proudly served in the US Army. Tom graduated from Norwood High School.
His love for family is what truly defined him. Tom is survived by his son, Tom (Donna) Williams; his daughter, Lisa (Brett) Cartuyvelles; and his grandchildren, Emily (Max) Knipper, Thomas Williams, Daniel, and Grace Cartuyvelles. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Cecilia Knipper. Tom is predeceased by his loving parents, Frank R. & Helen Williams (nee Terwilleger) and beloved brother, Frank Anthony "Tony" Williams.
As we celebrate the life of Thomas F. Williams, we invite all who knew him to pay their respects. Visitation will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Norwood, Ohio, on Friday, August 22, 2025 from 9 AM to 11 AM, followed by a Mass at 11 AM.
