Sophie (Mitsoff) Lehman

Sophie Lehman (nee Mitsoff). Age 97. Passed away January 2, 2021.  Beloved wife for 70 years of the late Richard H. "Dick" Lehman. Loving mother of Christina Abdulghani, Susan (Michael) Ryan, Anne (Don) Pavely, Julie Harrington, Wendy (Dan) Kroner, Lauren (George) Smorse. Proud grandmother "Baba" to Tareq (Tracey) Abdulghani, Noori (Alex) Abdulghani, Nadia (Robert) O’Neill, Jennifer (Ben) Allison, Michael Ryan, Alison (Phil) Porter, Nick (Brittany) Pavely, Alex (Angie) Pavely, Katherine and Thomas Pavely, Natalie (Scott) Scheider, William and Andrew Harrington, Ben (Paige) Kroner, Sophie (Jade Smeriglio) Kroner, Grace Kroner, and Elizabeth Smorse. Great-grandmother to Claire, Henry, Cole, Amelia, Jordan, Cora, Maren, Derek, Flynn, Erik, Evie, Scarlett and Spencer. Dear aunt of Patricia Rain and Marianna Darling and many other nieces and nephews.

Sophie was born in Middletown, Ohio, and was a resident of Norwood, Ohio, with her husband for over 70 years. She was a devout Roman Catholic and an active member of St. Matthew and later Holy Trinity Parish in Norwood. She was a volunteer at St. Matthew School and a member of the St. Matthew’s Ladies Sodality. She was a Girl Scout leader and received the St. Anne emblem in recognition of outstanding service to the spiritual development of Catholic youth in the program of Girl Scouts of America. Sophie was a woman of immense faith with a great devotion to St. Jude.

Sophie and Dick loved to travel and visited many states and countries. She maintained affection for her Macedonian heritage, keeping in touch with Macedonian family and passing many Macedonian traditions on to her daughters. Sophie worked at Xavier University in the Continuing Education Department. Her love of Xavier Men’s Basketball continued for many years. She was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast and completed the daily puzzles every day.

Sophie was a loving role model to every daughter, son-in-law, grandchild and great-grandchild. She will be greatly missed.
